Andy Lavender
The artistic director of Lightwork, has directed all the company's work to date, including Here's What I Did with My Body One Day (Pleasance, London and UK tour), Sarajevo Story (Lyric Hammersmith) and MyLife (in association with Lewisham Youth Theatre). Other productions include Forget Me Not and The Singularity for the London International Mime Festival. Andy is Professor of Contemporary Theatre and Dean of Research at the Central School of Speech and Drama, University of London.
Emma-Lauranne Perris
She graduated from London Metropolitan University Performing Arts (Theatre and Contemporary Dance). She has trained in various styles of dance including ballet, tap, street, jazz and flamenco.
She will provide steet dance workshops in Dolne Miasto.
Gian Carlo Rossi
The Principal Lecturer in Performing Arts and Theatre Studies at London Metropolitan University. He works as a lighting designer in contemporary dance and theatre. His research interest is in seeking to utilise the ‘language of space’ as means of investigating, analysing and creating performance practice, drawing on the work of cultural geographers, theorists, philosophers and architects who see spatial thinking as central to cultural discourse. In April 2007 he collaborated on Vertigo with Lucy Richardson, a devised theatre piece that took a spatial approach to exploring the lives of four women. This is his fifth visit to the Shakespeare Festival as a director, having previously collaborated on Measure for Measure, Macbeth, A Midsummer Night’s Dream and More Than a Woman with Lucy Richardson.
Pavel Drábek
Born 1974. He teaches English literature, drama, and theatre at Masaryk University, Brno, Czech Republic. He specializes in early modern English drama and drama translation. At the moment he is finishing a book on Czech translations of Shakespeare. In the theatre he used to work as a composer, musician as well as an actor. With a group of young professional musicians and singers, he founded and is the artistic director of Ensemble Opera Diversa, a company performing classical and modern chamber music and opera. Over the past decade, he has written some twenty opera librettos for this ensemble.
Philip Parr
An opera and theatre director, a director of many festivals. His productions have been seen all over the world. He has been Director of the Swaledale Festival, and the Bath Shakespeare Festival. In 2008 he was Artistic Director for the Holocaust Memorial Day National Event, part of Liverpool Capital of Culture. Parrabbola specialise in large scale, site specific community theatre, and Philip has directed all their work over the past decade. In November 2009 he makes his US debut directing Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas in Portland, Oregon. He has commissioned over 50 new works of music and opera. Philip is a member of the executive board of the European Shakespeare Festivals Network.
Maciej Szupica
Born 1975 in Białystok, Poland. A graphic artist, video director, sculptor, photographer, performer, stage designer and VJ. Szupica graduated with a degree in graphic design from the Academy of Arts in Gdańsk. He currently lectures at the Academy of Arts in Gdansk and is affiliated with its multimedia lab. He is a co-founder of numerous projects. He currently participates in the following: C.A.T.TV, Skand21, Uniform, Dick4Dick, Cavalleris, Huston-we’ve-got–the-problem. His wide range of interests covers photography, poster, graphics, movie, video, performance. First and for most, he treats photography as a cognitive tool; this further triggers his interest in camera obscura. He is also interested in interfaces and combining various genres such as music and picture or sculpture and photography. Szupica created several video clips and collaborated with various music bands as Pink Freud, Mod Funk, Loco Star, Gabriela Kulka.
